Welcome!
What is the North Dakota Personal Assistance Registry? The Registry is an internet based system set up to match the needs of consumers using personal assistance services and home and community based services (HCBS) with direct service providers such as Qualified Services Provider (QSPs) and other personal care assistants (PCAs). Participation on the Registry by consumers, family members, and providers is completely voluntary and not a condition to receive or provide services. Until recently, the Registry was operating only in the Grand Forks region as a pilot project. As we move the site statewide, we will still be asking for your feedback and suggestions in order to make the site as user friendly as possible.
How it works for the consumer? The Registry provides consumers a list of providers that match their needs, live in their communities and are available to work. Upon receiving the list of providers, the consumer of services (employer) is responsible for calling, interviewing and selecting the provider of her/his choice. No background checks are conducted on those providers listed in the registry. Consumers are strongly encouraged to carefully interview and check the background and qualifications of providers. Additionally, any personal assistance services received through public funding, such as Medicaid, must still be authorized/approved through county case managers.
How it works for the provider? At the same time, the Registry provides individuals or agencies that provide personal assistance services such as QSPs and other HCBS providers, a place to share contact information and information about services with consumers and families. This Registry helps to connect providers with consumers who need HCBS. The Registry is an excellent place for providers to share their availability and expertise so they have the opportunity to work more in their community providing needed HCBS to the elderly and people with disabilities.

The North Dakota Personal Assistance Registry has been developed through a collaborative effort of the ND Medicaid Infrastructure Grant, a project of the North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities (NDCPD) at Minot State University and the Personal Assistance Services - Grand Forks Regional Pilot Task Force. This task force includes consumers, providers, county social service and ND Department of Human Services staff. It has been developed and is managed by the ND Medicaid Infrastructure Grant staff at NDCPD with recommendations from the task force. NDCPD is committed to improving access to quality personal assistance services for people with disabilities and the elderly to help them maintain independence and employment in their communities.
